NAS Patuxent River COVID-19 Information

Current Health Protection Condition (HPCON): HPCON ALPHA

NAS Patuxent River announced March 2 that indoor mask-wearing is not required for DoD personnel in all but two DoD spaces at NAS Patuxent River, regardless of vaccination status. The two exceptions to this policy are the Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River and NAS Patuxent River Child and Youth Programs spaces, where masks are still required by all in these spaces.  More information available here.

As Pax River continues to maintain mission readiness and public safety in response to COVID-19, we would like our personnel and residents to services have been impacted.


BASE ACCESS CREDENTIALS

The Trusted Traveler Program at NAS Patuxent River has been reinstated. Visitors to base without credentials must be escorted on to base in the same vehicle as a credentialed member and remain with their escort while on base at all times.

 

COMMISSARY

-          Effective March 18, Pax River Commissary began 100% I.D. card checks at the entrance of the store and the visitor policy has been revoked until further notice. For more information, please call 301-342-3789/3630.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Open - Condition Phase 3

The Child and Youth Program has moved to Stage 3 operations beginning June 25, 2021, which begins a move back to full enrollment. Over the next several months families that were enrolled prior to the COVID pandemic will be contacted to return. Those families deemed mission critical during the pandemic and were not fully enrolled prior to COVID will receive notification and support to find alternate child care in order to make space available for families coming back to the Child Development Centers. Depending on the number of returning enrollees, offers will be made to families from the waitlist until all spaces have been filled. RELIGIOUS PROGRAMS

The NAS Pax River Chaplain is available by Duty Phone at 301-247-8058 fo call, text or FaceTime, and on call for emergencies 24/7.

Counseling for resilience, marriage or religious needs are available Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bible studies are in-person and virtual.

GATE 2 PASS AND ID VISITOR CONTROL CENTER

Open with modified service, Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. .

-          No more than six visitors may be inside the VCC at any one time. All others shall wait outside until called. Visitors shall maintain 6 feet separation from each other, and will be no closer than an arms length to the counter at any time.

-          Visitors with symptoms of illness (fever, chills, cough, etc) are not allowed inside the VCC.

-          DBIDS cards for contractors will not be renewed until 14 days prior to their current card’s expiration date.

-          Issuance of DBIDS cards for dependents of DoN or DoD civilians is suspended until further notice.

DEERS/ID CARD OFFICE

The Building 409 CAC/ID Office is open with modified service, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m., closed weekends. The Building 409 CAC/ID Office is currently only taking appointments for the following services:

-         Replacing lost or stolen CAC

-         Issuing initial CAC IDs

Customers can make an appointment by logging on to https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/ . For questions, please call the Building 409 CAC/ID office at 301-342-1054.

Customers can take advantage of walk-in services without an appointment for:

-          PIN resets

-          Email updates         

The Gate 1 CAC/ID Office is open Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. p.m., closed weekends. Services currently offered:

-          Replacing lost or stolen CAC

-          Issuing initial CAC IDs

-          Replacing IDs that will expire in the next 30 days (available to active duty without an appointment).

-          Seating is reduced and spaced for social distancing.


FOOD SERVICES

Some food operators are open, including the NEX Food Court, but for takeout only. The Food Court will have limited seating to enforce social distancing.

Please note variations can occur in food trucks' schedules due to being on base every other Friday for CWS. If business is light they may leave earlier than stated below.

Blue Winds Gourmet: Pax River -Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Old McDonalds location on Cedar Point Road. Webster field - Monday and Wednesday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Building 8140.

 

 

NAVAL HEALTH CLINIC PATUXENT RIVER

Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River will temporarily suspend the 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. extended hours beginning Monday, 6 April, 2020. Adjusted clinic hours for primary care will be from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Wednesdays. Staff are available to conduct COVID-19 screenings Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Pharmacy hours remain unchanged.

NOTE: Masks with exhalation valves are NOT permitted. Valved masks are not appropriate for healthcare settings. Masks with valves allow unfiltered/contaminated air to be exhaled from the wearer – valves may be found on commercially marketed cloth masks, elevation training masks (ETMs), and some N95s.

 

PHARMACY

The Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River (NHCPR) Pharmacy, located in the Navy Exchange on Cuddihy Rd., is still open and serving patients. To request refills, call the Automated Call-in Refill Line at 1-800-377-1723 (prescription label information is needed) or by visiting www.tricareonline.com. More information is available by calling the NHCPR Pharmacy at 301-757-2605.

There are many options for DoD patients to fill their prescriptions either
on base or anywhere else. During the time of the Coronavirus Pandemic our
operations will be changed as follows to minimize risk of virus spread:

1. If you choose to fill your medications at NHC Patuxent River (at
the Navy Exchange), you MUST request them before you come via one of the following options:

(1) Activate via our NHCPR App
(2) QR Code
(3) Navy Exchange Pharmacy Drop Box
(4) Call 301-757-2605.
****You must provide a cell or home phone number when placing your request.
You will be contacted when your prescriptions are ready. Only come to the
pharmacy AFTER you have received notification form the pharmacy that your prescription is ready. There are no co-pays for medications filled on base. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, all chairs have been removed and waiting in person is prohibited to minimize your risk and exposure to other
sick patients. Please assist us in minimizing traffic and supporting social
distancing by requesting medications needed soon/immediately and delaying any non-urgent items. FLEET AND FAMILY SERVICES CENTER (FFSC)
The Family Support Center staff is back in full-force and are offering in-person appointments for every program, and virtual appointments will remain available as well if a customer is not comfortable coming in. Small group in-person classes are also resuming with a maximum of 12 participants per class. In-person TAP classes will resume the third week in July but will be limited to 12 participants and the virtual option will also remain available. New Parent Support Home Visitation services has resumed in-home visits with mitigations in place per Public Health guidance. NAVY MARINE CORPS RELIEF SOCIETY (NMCRS)

Open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Thursday 

Please call 301-342-4739 for information and appointments, however walk-ins are welcome. All assistance requires a military ID card.  Call ahead for any other paperwork requirements.

For emergency assistance for time sensitive emergencies when the office is closed, please contact the NAS Patuxent River Duty Office at 301-342-1095.

 

DRILL HALL/FITNESS CENTER (INCLUDES SOLOMONS UNMANNED FITNESS CENTER)

The Pax River Drill Hall is now open to all with base access from Monday through Friday 5 a.m.-5 p.m.;  Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. From 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday the Drill Hall is only open to active duty military and dependents; and closed Sundays.

Reservations are required. ID checks from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. for active duty military and dependents.
Showers are open. No towel service provided; patrons must bring own towels.

Indoor Command PT and Group Exercise classes will resume but capped at 15 people. Ten classes will be offered per week to gauge interest. More information available at https://www.navymwrpaxriver.com/fitness or by calling 301-757-3943.

NAVY FAMILY HOUSING

Pax River Housing Service Center: Office is open to walk ins, and but staff are still taking appointments by phone. For more information, call the Housing Welcome center at 301-342-3846

Lincoln Military Housing: Office is open to walk ins, and staff are still taking appointments by phone and providing  service calls for maintenance.   The Community Centers are available for resident use/reservations.  For more information call the Lincoln Military Housing office at 240-895-0380.
