CMDCM(SW/AW) Dedrick Walker

Master Chief Petty Officer Dedrick Walker is a native of England, Arkansas. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Saint Leo University in 2004 and a Master's degree in Counseling from Webster University in 2013.

He enlisted into the delayed entry program in November 1993, completed Basic Training at Recruit Training  Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in February 1994, and followed on to complete Apprenticeship Training in April 1994. As an undesignated Seaman Recruit in May 1994, he reported to his first command USS YELLOWSTONE (AD 41) in Norfolk, Virginia. 

Master Chief Walker cross-rated into the Damage Control (DC) community in 1995. Upon the decommissioning of the USS YELLOWSTONE (AD 41), he reported to Basic Engineering Training in Great Lakes, Illinois, and followed on to DC "A" school in San Francisco, California, in February 1996. In May 1996, Master Chief Walker reported to USS CARON (DD 970) in Norfolk, Virginia, where he advanced to Damage Controlman 2nd Class. 

In May 1999, Master Chief Walker reported for duty aboard USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV 67) in Mayport, Florida. After a successful tour, he reported to Chemical Biological Radiological Defense School in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, in March 2001. 

Upon completing Instructor Training in Pensacola, Florida, he reported to Fleet Training Center, Mayport, Florida, in July 2001 where he qualified as a Master Training Specialist. During this tour, Master Chief Walker advanced to Damage Controlman 1st Class and Chief Damage Controlman.

In March 2006, Master Chief Walker reported to Afloat Training Group in Mayport, Florida, where he received the Afloat Training Specialist designator. 

In April 2008, he reported to USS CARNEY (DDG 64) as LCPO for Repair Division and Safety Officer. While aboard, he received his Engineering Officer of the Watch qualification. During this period, USS CARNEY was awarded two consecutive Battle Efficiency Awards, the CNO's Safety Award, and the Battenberg Cup for the best all-around ship in the Atlantic Fleet. 

In March 2011, he reported to Surface Warfare Officer School Command Learning Site, Mayport, Florida, as the Senior Enlisted Leader. While onboard, he advanced to Senior Chief Damage Controlman and was selected into the Command Senior Chief program (Khaki 168). 

In June 2014, after completing Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 130), he reported to the USNS MERCY (T-AH 19). While aboard MERCY, Master Chief Walker deployed in support of Rim of Pacific 2014 and Pacific Partnerships 2015 and 2016.

In October 2016, he reported to USS JOHN S. McCAIN (DDG-56). During this tour, the ship participated in numerous exercises and deployed to the South China Sea.

In April 2018, Master Chief Walker reported to Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida.  During this period, NHP transitioned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (Units) under the Defense Health Agency with efforts focused on the COVID-19 global pandemic response.   

In March 2021, Master Chief Walker reported to Navy Talent Acquisition Group Philadelphia serving as the Senior Enlisted for Navy Recruiting covering 5 Northeastern States.

In March 2022, Master Chief Walker reported to Naval Support Activity Bethesda, Maryland where he is currently serving as the installation's first Command Master Chief.

Walker's personal decorations include a Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (2), Outstanding Military Volunteer Service Medal (2), and various unit and campaign awards.
