Hospital Corpsman Senior Chief Cedric Gaines entered the U.S. Navy in June 2001 from Tifton, Georgia as an Operation Specialist; completed Basic Training at Recruit Training command Great Lakes, Illinois and OS “A” school at Dam Neck, Virginia. In May of 2005, he cross-rated to Hospital Corpsman and attended Hospital Corps “A” School in Great Lakes.
Senior Chief Gaines assumed the duties of acting senior enlisted leader for Naval Support Activity Bethesda in February 2023.
His sea duty assignments include: USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20); USS LaSalle (AGF 3) and USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78).
His shore duty assignments include: Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida; Naval Branch Clinic Key West, Florida; and Commander, Navy Installations Command in Washington, D.C.
He has served as Senior Enlisted leader, Kandahar Role III; Department Leading Chief Petty Officer, USS Gerald R. Ford CVN 78; Acting Force Corpsman, Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet; Senior Enlisted Leader, Naval Branch Health Clinic Key West, Florida, and Force Command Climate Specialist for Commander, Navy Installations Command.
Gaines’s career includes combat deployments in the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Fleet areas of responsibilities and participated in Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
His personal qualifications and awards include the Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Information Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Four Navy Commendation Medals, Five Navy Achievement Medals, one Joint Service Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
