Mr. Gilbert Elliott Jr.

Mr. Gilbert Elliott Jr., a native of Cleveland Ohio, began his government service September 1964 in the United States Marine Corps, retiring from active duty after 32 years of service in September 1996.

Mr. Elliott began his civilian career March 1997, after being selected as the supervisor, Executive Transportation Section, Naval District Washington, with the focus and responsibility of moving Navy and Marine Corps Flag officers, Senior Executive Service and Congressional members in and around the Metropolitan Washington area.

In January 2000, Mr. Elliott, was selected to be assistant Deputy to the South Area Operations Officer, Naval District Washington.

Mr. Elliott was competitively selected for the Deputy North Area Operations Officer in June 2001, working for the Chief Operating Officer for Naval District Washington, serving until October 2005. During his time in the position, he was responsible for the management and supervision of an eight-person core team overseeing Base Operating Support to 18 Navy mission commands at installations in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. One of the major accomplishments during his time as deputy was the logistical task of overseeing relocation of 11 Navy mission commands from the Nebraska Avenue Complex to various bases and installation on the East Coast.

Mr. Elliott’s current responsibilities as NSA Washington Deputy Commander include oversight and direction of all Installation Program Directors associated with the management of installations, base operating support and supervision of Commanding Officer staff.

Among Mr. Elliott’s numerous personal civilian awards include the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award and the Navy Civilian Meritorious Service Award.
