Welcome to Navy Region Naval District Washington. "The Quarterdeck of the Navy." With the nation's capital at its heart, Naval District Washington encompasses more than 4,000 square miles, including the District of Columbia; the Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's, and St. Mary's, and northern Virginia counties of Loudoun, Fauquier, Fairfax, Prince William, Stafford King George, Westmoreland, Arlington and the cities within their outer boundaries.

Hurricane Preparedness: How Naval District Washington is Getting Ready

WASHINGTON -- Naval District Washington will participate in the annual hurricane preparedness and disaster response exercise, Hurricane Exercise/Citadel Gale (HURREX/CG) 2025, from April 21 to May 2. This annual exercise, led by Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFFC) and Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), aims to enhance the region’s response to tropical storm and hurricanes, involving all Navy regions and installations along the eastern seaboard and Gulf Coast.

Nearly 17,000 federal personnel are expected to return to in-person work at Washington Navy Yard on Monday, Feb. 10. For several months, Naval Support Activity (NSA) Washington has worked with its tenant commands to promote education and awareness about alternative transportation options around the National Capital Region. Parking has been limited at Washington Navy Yard, with parking nearly at capacity prior to the return to in-person work and numerous personnel using alternative methods.
