A native of Westfield, Indiana, Commander Keith Yull graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations.
After commissioning in 2004, Commander Yull began his career at the Naval flight school in Pensacola, Florida, where he became a naval aviator.
His first assignment was Helicopter Squadron 11 in Jacksonville, Florida, where he embarked on USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) and deployed to OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. His follow-on assignment was Naval Strike and Weapons Center in Fallon, Nevada.
From there, he reported to Helicopter Squadron 28 in Norfolk, Virginia, where he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander.
His next assignment was Helicopter Squadron 25 in Guam, where he embarked on USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) and USNS SACAGAWEA (T-AKE 2) in support of Pacific operations.
After completing additional professional development training at Navy War College, Newport, Rhode Island, he continued to Commander, Seventh Fleet in Yokosuka, Japan, as the Future Plans Lead, where he was selected for promotion to Commander. From Japan, he took a NATO assignment at Joint Forces Command in the Netherlands.
Commander Yull assumed the role of NSA Bethesda Executive Officer in July 2023.
Commander Yull’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 Gold Stars) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal as well as unit and service awards.
