Cmdr. Kimberly I. Mazur

Cmdr. Mazur is a native of Pembroke Pines, Florida.  She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University in August 2004.  She completed Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida and was commissioned an Ensign in the Civil Engineer Corps in July 2005.  She earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida in May 2015 and a Master of National Resource Strategy from National Defense University’s Eisenhower School in June 2024.  
 
Her previous tours include Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic (NAVFAC MIDLANT), Portsmouth, Virginia serving as Assistant Public Works Officer (APWO) St. Juliens Creek Annex at Public Works Department (PWD) Portsmouth and later as APWO Northwest Annex at PWD Hampton Roads, Chesapeake, Virginia; Naval Support Facility Thurmont, Maryland as the Assistant Public Works Officer; Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ELEVEN, Gulfport, Mississippi serving as Echo Company Commander on a deployment to Okinawa, Japan, Charlie Company Commander, Assistant Training Officer and Detail Bost Officer in Charge on a deployment to Afghanistan; NAVFAC MIDLANT, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania as a Construction Manager for PWD Pennsylvania at Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg; Naval Special Warfare Group TWO Logistics and Support Unit, Virginia Beach, Virginia as a Combat Engineer supporting a deployment with SEAL Team EIGHT and later serving as the Engineering Department Head; NAVFAC Pacific, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, serving as the Executive Assistant to the Commander; Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit TWO ZERO TWO, Virginia Beach, Virginia serving as the Commanding Officer; and Naval Base Ventura County, California serving as the Public Works Officer.
 
Cmdr. Mazur assumed command of Naval Support Facility Thurmont in July 2024.
 
Cmdr. Mazur is a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida, a registered Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute, and a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer.  She has also received her Joint Professional Military Education Level II qualification, Public Works Level III certification, Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Contracting Level 3 certification, DAU Facilities Engineering Level 2 certification, and is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps.  Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (two awards), and the Presidential Service Badge.
