Naval Support Activity (NSA) Annapolis awarded a contract to CER Incorporated for $2.6 million to construct a flood wall along a portion of Prince George Street, marking another significant step in the installation’s ongoing flood control efforts, June 25, 2025.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Naval Support Activity (NSA) Annapolis awarded a contract to CER Incorporated for $2.6 million to construct a flood wall along a portion of Prince George Street, marking another significant step in the installation’s ongoing flood control efforts, June 25, 2025.

The work includes demolishing the existing wall and providing a new flood wall along the United States Naval Academy fenceline from Barry Gate to Gate 0. It also includes providing and adjusting a detachable flood barrier at Barry Gate, and ensuring the new wall meets necessary security requirements.

“This project underscores our commitment to safeguarding both the U.S. Naval Academy and the surrounding Annapolis community from the growing threats posed by heavy rainfall and flooding,” said Capt. Chris Schwarz, Commanding Officer, NSA Annapolis. “Through close collaboration with our partners in the City of Annapolis, we’re taking concrete steps to ensure our shared infrastructure is more resilient and our community is better prepared for future challenges.”

The Prince George Street flood wall will be the third major project in NSA Annapolis’ comprehensive installation resiliency program, joining the completed Farragut Seawall improvement and an ongoing project to protect Ramsey Road. These efforts aim to protect mission-critical infrastructure and enhance safety for personnel. The Prince George Street flood wall is expected to be completed in Winter 2026.

“The Naval Academy is part of the fabric of the Annapolis community and is a vital partner in protecting our shared future,” said Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley. “This new flood wall along Prince George Street reflects our shared commitment to resilience, security, and preserving the historic charm of downtown. We’re proud to work hand-in-hand with NSA Annapolis on projects that safeguard both the midshipmen and the surrounding community.”

NSA Annapolis’ resiliency projects reflect a shared commitment with the City of Annapolis to strengthen the region’s ability to respond to flooding events.
