Under Schwarz’ leadership, NSA Annapolis supported the Naval Academy's more than 4,400 Midshipmen, more than 6,000 employees, and more than two million visitors a year.
“Captain Schwarz has led NSA Annapolis with great vision in providing Shore Forces and facility services to the US Naval Academy and all its tenants. David Faehnle, Commandant of Naval District Washington. “Under Chris’s leadership, the installation grew stronger and more resilient. We welcome Captain Simpson and are confident she will carry forward that legacy with honor and excellence.”
Schwarz also led the 354 military and civilian personnel under his command to ensuring NSA Annapolis maintained all facilities which included over 120 aging historic buildings and associated infrastructure that must be maintained to National Historic Registry site standards.
"Serving as the commanding officer of NSA Annapolis has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career," said Schwarz. "I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and my family and I will miss the city of Annapolis and the friendships we’ve made here."
Simpson most recently served as a battalion officer at the U.S. Naval Academy. During her remarks, she thanked the NSA Annapolis team for the warm welcome and expressed her enthusiasm about leading the installation.
"It is an honor to cross the bridge and now take the helm at NSA Annapolis," said Simpson. "I am eager to work alongside such a dedicated team of professionals and continue building on the foundation laid by Capt. Schwarz.”
