Mr. Johnson re-joined Naval District Washington as Executive Director in April 2023. In this capacity, he serves as the principal advisor to the Region Commander, responsible for policy, strategy, governance, and business management across the region. As the senior civilian, he leads more than 300 Naval District Washington employees and 3,400 region employees.
Prior to re-joining Naval District Washington, he retired from Naval District Washington where he served in various capacities at Installations and the Region, with the bulk of his service as the Chief Information Officer. He oversaw numerous initiatives in the Region, to include improvements in base security, emergency management, command and control, and connected building control systems for energy reduction and improved operations.
Prior to NDW Mr. Johnson worked in Public Works organizations in both the Navy and the Army. He has expertise in various aspects of public works, to include deputy public works positions, real property management, engineering, environmental and supervising shop forces overseeing and operating buildings and utility systems.
Mr. Johnson graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a major in Civil Engineering.
