The Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) provides direct legal advice and support to the Commanding Officer, Naval Air Station and Tenant Commands on matters including, but not limited to, military justice, ethics, standards of conduct, international law, civil affairs (except Government contracts), administrative law, litigation, legal assistance, environmental law, and investigations. The SJA administers the military justice system on the installation and maintains liaison with local law enforcement agencies.

If you would like to set up a legal assistance appointment and are eligible for services (active duty and retired military, and their families), please contact the Legal Assistance Services number above. Legal assistance includes advice on adoption, consumer issues, immigration, landlord-tenant issues, tax, wills, and other estate planning. Appointments with attorneys are provided by telephone or in person through our National Capitol Region legal assistance offices. Call the above legal assistance number to obtain intake forms and information about appointments.

NOTE: The NAS Patuxent River Legal Office provides notary and Special Powers of Attorney services Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. and 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Special Powers of Attorney are created via https://www.jag.navy.mil/legal_services/SPOA.htm. Call 301-342-7510.
