The Fire Department is located on Dahlgren Road, Bldg. # 411, across from Gray's Landing Restaurant. There are firefighters on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to serve residents, employees and visitors of the installation. Twenty-seven personnel work in the Fire Division consisting of a Fire Chief, two Assistant Fire Chiefs, four Fire Captains, three Fire Inspectors, and eighteen Firefighters.
Core functions of the Fire Department include but are not limited to fire suppression, fire prevention, public fire safety education, fire service training, hazardous materials emergency response, rescue, and emergency response to natural and man – made disasters. These firefighters maintain a high level of training and qualifications to be able to respond in a moments notice. The Fire Fighters operate numerous response vehicles such as a structural fire pumper, a ladder truck with pumping capacity, a command vehicle, brush truck, technical rescue and a HAZMAT truck.
The role of the Fire Prevention office is to conduct fire protection inspections, manage the public education program, review installation construction plans and specifications, investigate fires, provide hazardous operations permits, and provide life safety and fire protection training. The prevention office has just received a new Fire Extinguisher Training aid, which enables us to come to your facility to teach fire extinguisher training.
The Fire Division maintains a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambuance service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Fire Department responds to all medical emergencies to stabilize and transport all victims to area hospitals if needed.
