The Naval Support Activity Washington Public Affairs Officer advises the commanding officer and executes the command's media relations, community relations and command information missions. The Public Affairs Officer is responsible for all media interactions, community relations events, moderating official NSAW social media platforms and public website.

Media Relations
The media relations section of the public affairs office is the liaison between the news and entertainment media, and the installation and tenant partners assigned here.

All media representatives with queries regarding incidents, accidents, events and activities onboard any NSAW installation should call (202) 433-2669. Calls received after duty hours will be forwarded to the duty cell phone and returned promptly.

The public affairs office can also provide media training to offices and individuals who are preparing for media engagements.

Unescorted media is not permitted on the installation.

Community Relations
The community relations section facilitates outreach between the command and the surrounding communities. Naval Support Activity Washington frequently supports local non-partisan events. Support is based on the availability of assets and mission requirements.

Command Information
The command information section maintains operational responsibility for communication across multiple platforms with tenant partners throughout the seven NSAW installations.
