10JAN23: HPCON CHANGE: Effective 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, NSA Bethesda shifted to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Bravo. Shifting to HPCON Bravo means:
-
Practice social distancing
-
Adhere to less than 80 percent of normal occupancy in the workplace
-
Liberal telework should be permitted where possible, especially for individuals who self-identify as immunocompromised or being at high risk for severe disease
-
Consider limiting occupancy of common areas where personnel are likely to congregate and interact by marking approved sitting areas or removing furniture to maintain physical social distancing

15AUG22: HPCON CHANGE: Effective 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, NSA Bethesda moved to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Charlie. This change is consistent with DoD requirements and based upon the "High" transmission rate of COVID-19 for the local area (Montgomery County) as reported on the CDC's county-by-county website.
Shifting to HPCON Charlie means:
- Less than 50% of normal occupancy in the workplace (this is a ceiling and not a goal)
- Limit social gatherings to less than 50 percent facility/room occupancy
- Indoor common areas and large venues may be closed. Dining establishments may be limited to takeout *or* reduced seating.
- The fitness center will limit capacity and reduce the number of available machines.
- Maximize telework to the greatest extent possible
As a medical treatment facility, Walter Reed Bethesda continues to operate with its own precautions in place.
The Child Development Center is already operating with enhanced precautions - there are no immediate changes planned for operations there.
Consistent with DoD requirements, HPCON Charlie will be maintained at NSA Bethesda until the CDC county-by-county website has shown Montgomery County at "Medium" transmission for a minimum of two continuous weeks.
