HPCON FITNESS CENTER OPERATIONS

NSA BETHESDA IS CURRENTLY IN HPCON BRAVO

10JAN23: HPCON CHANGE: Effective 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, NSA Bethesda shifted to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Bravo. This change is consistent with DoD requirements and based upon the "Medium" transmission rate for the local area (Montgomery County) as reported on the CDC's county-by-county website. Shifting to HPCON Bravo means:

  • Practice social distancing

  • Adhere to less than 80 percent of normal occupancy in the workplace

  • Liberal telework should be permitted where possible, especially for individuals who self-identify as immunocompromised or being at high risk for severe disease

  • Consider limiting occupancy of common areas where personnel are likely to congregate and interact by marking approved sitting areas or removing furniture to maintain physical social distancing

11OCT22: HPCON CHANGE: Effective 5 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, NSA Bethesda shifted to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Alpha. This change is consistent with DoD requirements and based upon the "Low" transmission rate for the local area (Montgomery County) as reported on the CDC's county-by-county website. 29AUG22: HPCON CHANGE: Effective 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, NSA Bethesda shifted to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Bravo. This change is consistent with DoD requirements and based upon the "Low" transmission rate for the local area (Montgomery County) as reported on the CDC's county-by-county website. Additionally, with the exception of the Child Development Centers and Walter Reed Bethesda, masks will no longer be required indoors in NSA Bethesda facilities.

15AUG22: HPCON CHANGE: Effective 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, NSA Bethesda moved to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Charlie. This change is consistent with DoD requirements and based upon the "High" transmission rate of COVID-19 for the local area (Montgomery County) as reported on the CDC's county-by-county website.

Shifting to HPCON Charlie means:
- Less than 50% of normal occupancy in the workplace (this is a ceiling and not a goal)
- Limit social gatherings to less than 50 percent facility/room occupancy
- Indoor common areas and large venues may be closed. Dining establishments may be limited to takeout *or* reduced seating.
- The fitness center will limit capacity and reduce the number of available machines.
- Maximize telework to the greatest extent possible

As a medical treatment facility, Walter Reed Bethesda continues to operate with its own precautions in place.
The Child Development Center is already operating with enhanced precautions - there are no immediate changes planned for operations there.

Consistent with DoD requirements, HPCON Charlie will be maintained at NSA Bethesda until the CDC county-by-county website has shown Montgomery County at "Medium" transmission for a minimum of two continuous weeks.

08AUG22: COVID ADVISORY: Due to “High” COVID transmission in the local area (Montgomery County), effective 5 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, masks will be required in all buildings at NSA Bethesda for those ages 2 and older.

****

27JUL22: HPCON CHANGE: Effective 0001, Thursday, July 28, 2022, the installation returned to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Bravo. This move is in response to the increased rate of COVID-19 transmission in the surrounding community.

****

18JUL22: CDC OPERATIONS: Effective July 20, masks are required at Child Development Center facilities (CDCs) for all staff, families, and children age 2. In addition to requiring masks, CDC staff will also conduct temperature checks and COVID-19 symptom/exposure screenings.
