The mission of the NSA Annapolis Safety Office is "To support managers and supervisors in their ongoing efforts to integrate safety and health into all operations and to maintain working and living conditions that are free of hazards."

The Safety Office provides a full-service, comprehensive safety program consisting of more than 20 major areas of concern. The range of responsibility and support required is vast and covers diverse environments such as afloat, waterfront, shore, industrial, recreational, and retail activities governed by a myriad of complex (and often competing) regulations, requiring skilled technical interpretation for successful implementation.

The Safety Office uses an effective pro-active hands on approach that emphasizes finding solutions that help supervisors take immediate and lasting action to eliminate hazards and potential health and safety problems. This coupled with a command structure that considers safety synonymous with mission has resulted in an ongoing superlative safety record, and has fostered an environment for safe work, play, and living.
